Ordering

Payments

Online payments through WooCommerce gateways and payments at the venue – at the counter, to the courier and at the table. Marking orders as paid.

Applies to WP InPlate 1.35.2 · Updated:

WP InPlate uses WooCommerce payment methods. You set them up in Sales panel → Settings → Payments.

Online payments

You can use any payment gateway for WooCommerce, e.g. Przelewy24, Stripe or PayU. You install and set up the gateway following its provider's instructions.

WP InPlate takes no commission on orders. Transaction fees are charged only by the payment provider, according to its price list.

Where customers pay

Customers choose the payment method only on the WooCommerce payment page, after clicking Proceed to payment in the order summary. The menu, the cart (side panel), the table ordering page and the summary have no payment buttons at all – no express buttons either (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, PayPal), even if the gateway has them enabled for the cart or the product. This way every order goes through the summary: fulfillment method, time and delivery zone.

If the summary page also contains the [woocommerce_checkout] shortcode or the WooCommerce checkout block, WP InPlate skips it there. The page content doesn't change.

Payments at the venue

WP InPlate adds three offline payment methods. Each one shows only for the matching fulfillment method:

MethodFor whomDescription for the customer
Pay at the counterPickup and eating inIn cash or by card when collecting at the venue
Pay the courierDeliveryIn cash on delivery. The courier doesn't take cards
Pay at the tableOrders with the QR code at the tableIn cash or by card at the table or at the counter

In the WooCommerce dashboard the methods are called “InPlate | Pay at the counter”, “InPlate | Pay the courier” and “InPlate | Pay at the table”.

All three are off by default. Turn on the ones you need. In each method's settings you can change the title and the description customers see. The default title shows in the language of the page.

Payment status in the KDS

  • Every order in the KDS has a payment status: Paid or Unpaid. The total in the order details is yellow until the order is paid, and green once it is.
  • The Unpaid filter shows only orders you still need to collect money for – also those already handed over (delivered), e.g. a table order the guest pays after the meal. The waiter finds it there, takes the payment and marks it as paid; then it disappears from the list. This filter doesn't show cancelled orders.
  • You mark an order paid at the venue as paid on the order card. The change needs a second tap: the first one shows “Confirm: …” for 2 seconds, the second one saves the change. A quick double tap doesn't count, so an accidental tap won't change the status.
  • The order details show the payment method and its status.

Collecting from the courier

For an order paid to the courier, the courier app shows the amount To collect. The courier confirms collecting the cash together with delivering the order (“Collected €54.90 – confirm”). Orders paid online are marked “Paid online”.

A change in the payment status reaches all open KDS and courier devices.

Invoices

In the order form the customer can tick I need a VAT invoice and enter the company name and VAT number. The data goes into the WooCommerce order: the company and address into the order's standard billing fields (the address from the customer's account or the company address entered in the form), the VAT number into the _inplate_nip order field. Issuing the invoice depends on the tool you use for invoicing – point it to this field as the VAT number.

What WP InPlate doesn't do

WP InPlate is not a fiscal cash register and doesn't print fiscal receipts. Register sales at your venue on your cash register as the law requires.
